20TH (gasp!) REUNION

AUGUST 28, 2004

THE MAIN EVENT

Come join us on Saturday, August 28 at Wrightsville Beach in Middlesex.  Bring your family for a day of fun in the Vermont sun!  The festivities begin at 11am, and go until dusk, rain or shine.

Activities
Activities include a cookout, swimming, horseshoes, volleyball, hiking trails, and canoe & kayak rentals, plus ample room for softball, kickball, or soccer.  And, of course, good old-fashioned socializing. If we remember correctly, there are some pretty good storytellers among us and a lot can happen in 10 years (or, 20 if you didn’t make it to our last reunion)!

For the kids
Two energetic college-age adults will be there throughout the day exclusively to help entertain your children.  They’ll be armed with an encyclopedia of games that appeal to all ages – races/relays, tag games, ball games, as well as supplies for quieter activities.

Please bring a food item to share and BYOB
Some suggestions include:  salads/side dishes, chips, dips, crackers, cheese, fruit, soda, tea, lemonade, brownies, cookies, and other desserts.  As a guideline, plan on bringing enough to feed 6 to 10 people.  Keep in mind that there is no electricity hookup for crock pots and the like.  Please remember to mark your container and any serving utensils that you wish to get back.  Beverages will not be included, so bring your own liquid refreshments in non-glass containers (alcohol is permitted).

VEGETARIAN OPTIONS:
We plan on having vegetarian burgers and dogs available, but please call or e-mail Stuart & Karen if you are a vegetarian so we can ensure we have enough !

Display of memorabilia
Karla Galfetti Smith is collecting items of nostalgia to put on display.  Please check the back of your closets for items that might stir up memories (G rated please).  Please coordinate your items with Karla: galfetti@excite.com)

Attendance fee
We are asking to collect $10 for each adult attendee and $4 for each child age two and above.  These fees will cover the cost of the reunion (shelter rental, activities for children, burgers, dogs, buns, condiments, paper goods, charcoal, postage and miscellaneous items.)  You’ll have a lot to remember to bring, so we encourage you to mail a check to us in advance (we’ll gladly provide refunds in the event plans change and you are unable to attend).

Please make checks payable to Amy Brown and mail to Stuart & Karen (address below).

No, No, No

OTHER REUNION EVENTS

SCHOOL TOUR
Join us for a guided tour of the expanded & renovated U-32 at 4pm (sharp) on Friday, the 27th.  If you haven’t been back since graduation, you’re in for a big surprise!  You’ll hardly recognize the rooms that you once slept, um, studied in.

LET ME BUY YOU A DRINK . . .(not really, you’ll have to buy your own)
Do you have a conflict Saturday?  Do you have to work?  Are you allergic to the sun?  Start your weekend off right!  On Friday night stop by Jack’s Backyard on Maple Avenue in Barre after 7:00 for another opportunity to catch up with old friends.

OUR OWN WEBSITE!
Ben Miller has created a website at www.U32Classof84.com that will provide the latest information on this event.  You will be able to use the website to let us know if you plan to come, and sign up for a food item to share.  You will also find a map of Wrightsville, a list of expected attendees, a list of alums we have been unable to locate, and much more!  We would like to retain this website on an on-going basis so we can keep updated on contact information, pictures of the reunions and for future reunion planning efforts.  We are looking at ways of funding this.  Hosting, upkeep and maintenance will cost between $85 and $200 per year.  Ideas that we have come up with include

1. corporate or individual sponsorship,

2. alumni subscription/membership dues of say $5 per year which would provide newsworthy or noteworthy items and special privileges (to be determined) for dues payers,

3. what do you think?

IN SEARCH OF CLASSMATES
We desperately need your help to find classmates that we have been unable to locate.  Do you know how to find them?  We have included a list of classmates with no confirmed contact information.  Are there people that graduated earlier or later that we should invite?  Let us know their contact information.

PLEASE RSVP
If you haven’t done so already, please try to let us know by August 14 whether or not you will attend by giving us a call, sending an e-mail, or signing-up on-line.  Please give us the number of adults and children (with ages) attending, or let us know if you will definitely not be coming.
